The location of the hostel is unbeatable, with stunning views overlooking the beach. Guests can easily access nearby surf spots such as Playa Colorado. the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, with a sense of community among long-term guests. the hostel offers comfortable beds with personal mosquito nets and a cozy hammock area with great views.
Some amenities were lacking, such as drinking water. Guests had to purchase plastic bottles from the bar each time, which is not environmentally friendly.

Awesome host, fantastic food, unbeatable sunset view, fun surfing at Monkey Reef, close to Playa Colorado. Bring boards and step-up. Laundry service provided. Comfortable hammock area with great view. Beds equipped with mosquito nets. Clean and tidy accommodation. Decent price for food and drinks. Special dinner options available. Beautiful location in Central America. Lovely staff and great coffee. Boards for rent or sale. Well-equipped kitchen. Path to the beach. Personal and friendly interaction with William. Unwillingness to leave due to how good the experience was.

I had the best stay at a hostel in Nicaragua at Monkey House. The views were fine, overlooking Playa Amarillo and the sea. The hostel owner and staff were friendly and helpful, making me feel right at home. The food served at the hostel was delicious and reasonably priced, especially the fish curry which was one of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere was relaxed and chilled, perfect for surfers and those looking to meet new people. The location was ideal, with a supermarket and restaurants/bars within walking distance. I highly recommend taking a surf lesson at the hostel too.
The only drawbacks were that the kitchen was a bit small and there were limited options for renting surfboards.

I recently stayed at Monkey House in Tola on a week-long vacation and it was absolutely incredible. The view from the hotel is simply breathtaking, with an amazing, empty beach of Amarillo right in front of you. The owner, William, and all the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The local people in the area were also some of the friendliest I have ever encountered. Moreover, Carlos, a local, was able to fix my surfboard perfectly. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be coming back again!
